  • Y4 residential to Whitby

    Thu 25 May 2023 Mr B

Our Y4s had an absolutely amazing time in Whitby for their one-night stay earlier this week. Over the course of two days, we crammed in: a fascinating historical tour of Whitby Abbey, where the children handled artefacts; map-reading work around the town; an evening beach walk; fish and chips; souvenir shopping; and a chance to play on the beach. Most of all, fantastic memories were made. The children were exemplary and an absolute delight to spend two days with! The staff are looking forward to next year already!

  • Y5 rugby

    Thu 25 May 2023 Rugby

We took a mixed team (5 boys and 5 girls) of rugby players to a four-team tournament at Clapgate Primary School yesterday. We were so proud of their performance and determination.

In the first game, they took some time to get to grips with the offside rule and lost 3 tries to 0. Following that though, their progress as rugby players soared! They drew the last two games 1-1 and 2-2, including coming from 2 tries down in the last few minutes of the final game. Although they did not win any games, they gave their all in the sunshine and went home happy, with one saying: 'This is my new favourite sport!'

Mr Hervo and I were proud of their brilliant sporting attitude and behaviour, and impressed with their rapid progress. They looked like a well-organised rugby team by the end!

We have had yet another busy half-term. Our Year 6 and Year 2 children have been busy with their SATs tests. As ever, they did us proud with their wonderful attitude and resilience.

At the end of the last half-term, the Y3/4 production was a massive hit. The children were incredible! The show received rave reviews all round.

On the sporting front, our Y5/6s narrowly lost their cricket match at Whitkirk Club. We also took eight children to the Brownlee Triathlon at the John Smeaton Leisure Centre. It was a fantastic event, and the children loved it!

Our circus and summer carnival was a huge success. Thank you so much for our PTA for organising this. See below for a 'Soak The Teacher' action shot!

Finally, we have enjoyed a couple of dressing up days this half-term - 'Rock-Star' day, for the school-wide relaunch of Times-Tables Rockstars and a 'Dress to Impress' on the Friday before the King's coronation. There was some wonderful outfits on show on both days!
