  • Athlete visit

    Wed 17 Oct 2018 Mr. B
Today, our children enjoyed working with Gemma Bridge, a Team GB athlete. She has been national champion in her sport - competitive walking - three times and last year competed for Team GB at the Commonwealth Games. Gemma spoke to the children about her training regime and about the need to face challenges, show resilience and set goals.
  • Girls' football

    Tue 16 Oct 2018 Mr. B

Our Year 5/6 girls' football team represented Strawberry Fields in our first sports event of the year this afternoon. It took a while to get going, with narrow 2-0 and 1-0 losses to St. Benedict's and East Garforth respectively. Both games could have gone either way and in both games the ball spent at least as much time threatening our opponents goal as it did ours!
After this, the team found their shooting boots and both our next two games, against Green Lane and Willow Green, ended in 3-1 victories. Lily-May scored five goals and Isabelle one. Maddie wowed the crowd with her saves in goal. Several other girls who had never played a competitive football match before also impressed. The girls played the games with a fantastic attitude and great team spirit.

    Well done everyone!

  • Collaborative House Morning

    Tue 16 Oct 2018 Mr. B

Today we had our first collaborative house morning. Across each Key Stage, the children worked together to create artwork and writing for their house display board. All the teachers reported great successes and enjoyed meeting some new children, as well as working again with some faces from classes past!

As well as the work that was produced, it was lovely to see children working alongside their house team mates from different year groups. We hope this will create friendships across different year groups and further deepen the children's sense community with each other and the school. There will be another house session next term.

  • Macmillan Coffee mornings

    Tue 02 Oct 2018 Mr B
Thank you to all those parents, carers and grandparents who attended our Macmillan coffee mornings last week. It was a great opportunity to meet people and chat, and even more importantly, to raise some money for a very worthwhile cause. In total, your contributions raised £542.07! Thank you!
  • Artist Visit

    Mon 01 Oct 2018 Mr B
We are all excitedly waiting for our library to be reinvented as a 'Yellow Submarine'! Earlier this term, all the classes in school worked with the artist Stephen Waterhouse to created underwater themed artwork. Stephen has taken our work away and will be using it to create an underwater theme! Thank you to the Friends of Strawberry Fields and Garforth Lions for their funding contributions to help make this project possible!
