  • F2 Inspire

    Wed 22 Nov 2017 Mr. B

We had lots of parents, carers and grandparents in school this week for the two Maths-themed F2 Inspire events. Thank you to those who were able to attend. We hope you enjoyed working in school with your child and went away with a little more knowledge about how your child learns at Strawberry Fields.

Here is a selection of the comments given on the feedback forms:

Did you enjoy the event? If so, why?

It is good to know how to encourage my child at home so it is consistent with school.

It was really interesting to hear what the children are learning. Also, helpful to understand how to help at home.

It was brilliant. Great to see what the children can do in class.

Do you feel that you learned more about your child’s educational experience at Strawberry Fields?

    Definitely!

Yes. I will be using some of these skills at home.

It all went really well and I loved the tea and biscuits at the end.

    Thank you!

    Finding the shapes was fun!

    Please do more!

    Everything was really good.

Inspire events are helpful and insightful.

  • Recent football matches

    Wed 22 Nov 2017 Mr. B

We have had some good results in the football matches we have played recently. Last week, our Y4 boys' team came from a goal down to beat Westbrook Lane (Horsforth) 2-1. We will be playing Carr Manor in the next round.

Earlier this week, Mr. Bradley and Mr. Henshall took two Y5/6 teams to a tournament at Garforth Academy against the other local schools. We were really proud of all our boys. One of our teams won their group after going unbeaten and reached the final against Green Lane. Unfortunately, Green Lane won the final 2-0.

Well done to all the footballers who have represented our school recently, and thank you for your excellent behaviour and good sporting attitude.

  • Robinwood residential

    Thu 09 Nov 2017 Mr. B

Last week Year Six went on our annual residential trip to Robinwood. The children were absolutely fantastic. Their behaviour was excellent and they made good progress communicating, listening and developing teamwork. It was lovely to hear the way they encouraged one another on some of the more difficult challenges and to see children working together successfully in pairs and groups with others they would not normally work with. One of the best aspects from the staff’s point of view was to see children embracing new challenges and conquering their fears. Some children who were afraid of activities such as climbing at the beginning for the residential were scampering up fearlessly by the end!

We would say a big thank you to all the children and adults who went, as well as the wonderful staff at Robinwood for making the residential such a great experience.

    Some quotes from our children:

“I loved Robinwood because I have overcome my fears. It was a wonderful environment because of how friendly the people are and how nice it is as an adventure when you are there.” (Evie)

“I really enjoyed Robinwood because the activities there are such fun and I never thought I would do them all but I did!” (Summer)

“I had such an amazing time at Robinwood because the staff were really helpful and the activities were so much fun.” (Hannah)

“An experience I will never forget. Something that I would like to do again. An amazing and fantastic experience for any age. It was the best thing ever.” (Ruby)

“Robinwood was the best school trip ever, maybe even the best holiday ever. I loved it! I loved canoeing and zip wire and hanging out with my friends.” (Macy)

“Robinwood was and is the best thing I’ve ever done in school, I was almost sad to leave!” (James)

“Amazing fun, I loved every second of it!” (Charlie)

“I had an amazing time at Robinwood, because I loved trying all of the fun and thrilling activities.” (Olivia)

  • Y5 football

    Tue 07 Nov 2017 Mr. B
Our Y5 boys played a cup match against Immaculate Heart of Mary this afternoon. Our opposition scored first, but we were able to level the scores thanks to an excellent finish from Daniel after getting on the end of Oliver's cross. For much of the first half, the game remained close, but Immaculate Heart pulled away in the second half and the eventual score was 6-1 to them. Our team played with great heart and spirit, never once giving up and continuing to attempt to pull a goal back right up to the final whistle. All the boys played well and our man of the match was James. Good look to Immaculate Heart in the next round!
  • Indoor Athletics

    Tue 07 Nov 2017 Mr. B
Yesterday some of our Y5/6 children went to Garforth Academy for the indoor athletics tournament. They had a great time, participated in some new and unfamiliar events and behaved themselves excellently. Well done to everyone, and thanks to the staff (and parent!) who took part to ensure the event went off successfully.
