  • What is Fitness Fifteen?

Thu 15 Sep 2016 Mr Bradley

We will be trialling our ‘Fitness Fifteen’ this year. It is based on the popular ‘Daily Mile’ which began in Scotland and is now used in many schools across the country. Even when they do not have PE, each child will do fifteen minutes of physical activity each day. It is designed to increase your child’s fitness level and has also been shown to positively affect behaviour and self-esteem. Fitness Fifteen is about participation, not competition.

For your child to take part, they will need a pair of running shoes. The Fitness Fifteen should last fifteen minutes from start to finish, meaning the children will not get fully changed, though we would also advise you to send your child with a thin waterproof coat, as teachers will still want to complete their Fitness Fifteen outside in all but the very worst weather conditions.

  • Introduction to Class Dojo

Thu 15 Sep 2016 Mr Bradley

Each class from Year 1 to Year 6 will be using the ‘Class Dojo’ system this year to reinforce the behaviours and learning attitudes we are trying to encourage in school. The Dojo app can be downloaded onto smartphones/tablets and can also be accessed online via a PC. Once you have signed up, Class Dojo will inform you as soon as your child receives a Dojo in class. If you have not yet signed up, or experience any problems, please speak to your child’s class teacher.

  • Growth Mindset at Strawberry Fields

Thu 15 Sep 2016 Mr Bradley

At Strawberry Fields Primary School we are looking forward to an exciting school year in 2016-17. Already, our classes are working hard to match the high expectations we will be setting for them. This year we will be continuing the work we have done in school on Growth Mindsets, with the aim of giving our children a ‘Toolkit for Learning’ – a set of skills, a way of thinking and an enthusiasm for learning they can carry with them through their entire educational life and beyond.

If you are interested in learning more about ‘Growth Mindsets’, please see the attached links or ask your child’s class teacher. We will explore Growth Mindsets further across the course of the year, including at this year’s ‘Inspire’ events.
These links explain some key ideas related to the Growth Mindset:
