Y3/4 boys' football

Today, our Year Four (with help from 3 Year Threes!) boys' football team progressed to the next round of the cup, beating West End Primary on penalties after a 1-1 draw. The game was exciting and end-to-end - definitely a candidate for 'First Game On Match Of The Day' status!

We went ahead early in the first half with a goal from Noah. Both sides had lots of chances to add to the scoring, with us being the stronger side in the first half and West End being more dominant in the second, finally scoring with just a couple of minutes remaining.

At different times, both teams' goalkeepers had saves to make, and both teams hit the crossbar - in our case, a spectacular, overhead scissors kick from Flynn in extra-time! We were also grateful to a very well-timed, inch-perfect sliding tackle from Daniel late in extra-time to prevent a near certain goal.

The game went to penalties - 3 per team. Ethan made two outstanding saves to keep out two West End penalties that were heading for the top corner, and Flynn scored his penalty to see us win the shoot-out 1-0.

Well done to all the boys who played, and thank you to West End Primary for the game - it was so close and they could easily have come out as the winners. Thank you too to all the parents who assisted with transport to make the game possible.
