Welcome toStrawberry FieldsPrimary SchoolLearning Together, Building The Future

Whitby residential

Last week, we had our first ever Year Four residential when we visited Whitby Youth Hostel for a night. During our time in Whitby, we crammed in all kinds of exciting adventures and activities, including: playing on the beach; visiting Whitby Museum and Pannett Park; exploring the town, including an evening walk; going to the lifeboat station; the Endeavour; eating fish and chips; visiting the gift and sweet shops and playing some hilarious team games.

As well as all the learning that took place, it was really nice to be able to share this experience with the children. They embraced the excitement and the spirit of adventure which comes with being away from home somewhere new and exciting, and for those who were initially a bit worried about being away for the night, it was great to see these children conquer their nerves and have a great time with their friends. As ever, the children were a credit to themselves and the school, including receiving compliments on their behaviour from other guests at the Youth Hostel.

Although on the first day, the weather was not always kind, it was a credit to the children that they did not let this put them off. In fact, some children cited getting drenched in a downpour and being able to jump in puddles as the highlight of their day!

We will certainly be booking again for next year, and, with a few tweaks to the itinerary (and hopefully less rain!), we will be offering an even more fantastic experience for the children!
