As ever, we have been very busy with sports recently. In the last few weeks, some of our Key Stage One children and some of our Y5/6 girls have been involved in football matches and competitions.
Our Key Stage One teams competed against other schools in Garforth. For some of the boys and girls, it was the first competitive football they had ever been involved with. Both teams managed to pick up a few points, sharing a couple of draws and a win between them.
Our 5/6 girls competed in the Leeds-wide St. Bart's Cup. There were over 50 primary schools from across the city involved. The standard of football was incredibly high, meaning we lost four of our games, but also managed to pick up a win and a draw. With only one exception, all the games were close.
Finally, two girls teams played against two girls teams from Highfield Primary today. Our more experienced team won against Highfield 'B' and drew a 3-3 thriller with Highfield 'A'! Our other team was mostly comprised of girls who rarely or never play football, and it was great to see there was so much interest to take part. Though they lost both games, the progress some of the girls made over 35 minutes of football, and the skill and understanding of the game some of them showed, proved that they should be definitely be playing more regularly!
