We were keen to give our departing Y6 children one last chance to represent the school in football. In June, we took a squad of Y5/6 girls to take part in a three way tournament at Ninelands, playing against teams from Ninelands and East Garforth. All matches were close! We ended with three draws (0-0, 0-0, 1-1) and a narrow defeat (1-0). Our goal was scored by Zara. We sincerely hope our Y6s take the chance to carry on playing next year at the Academy, and our Y5s continue to represent Strawberry Fields.
In July, it was the turn of the boys. We took two Y6 teams to Ninelands to play parallel fixtures. One team won 4-0, with a hat-trick from Ethan and a goal from Alfie, whilst our other team lost 2-0.
Finally, we took 6 children from each year group in Key Stage 2 to Garforth Academy for the inter-school athletics. We came third on the day, and we were really proud of the effort, resilience and attitude displayed.
As ever, more important than winning or losing is the behaviour and attitude shown and as usual, we were proud of all our children at all these events. There will be lots more opportunities to compete for the school next year, and good luck in your sporting endeavours in the future to all those who finished at Strawberry Fields this time.
