Welcome toStrawberry FieldsPrimary SchoolLearning Together, Building The Future

Events in Autumn 2

In the half-term running up to Christmas, school was incredibly busy, with lots of exciting events and Christmas activities happening to complement all the learning.

It was good to be able to engage with our community when Mrs Mumby took our children on a community Peace Flame walk. One of our children gave an impromptu speech, which so impressed the mayor that he received a personal letter!

We were also proud to host a Key Stage 1 multi-skills event in our hall, and to take two teams of Y3/4 children to Garforth Academy for the Curling competition. One of our teams finished second! As ever, our children were fantastic in their attitude and sporting behaviour.

Our Y5/6 children visited St. Mary's church for an 'Experiencing Christmas' event. They were incredibly respectful toward both their surroundings and the volunteers. As well as everything they learned about the meaning of Christmas, it was wonderful to have another opportunity to engage with our community and for our children to show once again how sensible and kind they are!

Both Key Stage 1 and Foundation Stage put on marvellous Christmas performances which were enjoyed by parents and staff alike. After COVID, it is such a pleasure to be able to get our families back in to school!

Our wonderful PTA worked hard to put on our first Christmas Fayre since 2019, which even included a special visit from Father Christmas, and a lovely Christmas film night. They also used some of the funds they have raised in recent years to once again fund our annual, in-school pantomime. This year, it was Jack and the Beanstalk.

The choir were very busy, singing at our local library and twice visiting a local care home, St Armand's, to sing for the residents. It was a great chance for our children to reflect on what we can give to others at Christmas and an opportunity to create a link we hope to foster in the future.
