Welcome toStrawberry FieldsPrimary SchoolLearning Together, Building The Future

Spring Term Sport

This term so far, we have taken part in a Year 5/6 mixed rugby tournament, a Year 4 skipping competition and played our game in the next round of the Datacable Under 9s cup.

Tag Rugby

The rugby team acquitted themselves well. They did not quite qualify for the semi-finals, but finished mid-table in their group with a couple of wins. It is always pleasing to be able to introduce children to a new sport. Only one of our squad is a regular rugby player, and several played rugby for the first time this year. Hopefully, some of them might be inspired to play or watch the sport in the future!

Skipping competition

As ever, Mrs. Driscoll worked really hard preparing 30 Year Four children for the skipping competition. They learned a variety of dances and techniques. Although we did not win overall, we took a number of first, second and third place finishes for different dances and individual skippers. Well done to everyone! Again, many of the children were learning new skills for the first time and will hopefully be inspired to continue exercising through skipping and dancing in the future.

Year 4 football

We played Ninelands in a local derby in the next round of the cup. The game finished 8-4 to Ninelands. There was far less in the game than the scoreline suggests and in fact at half-time we had actually had more of the play and taken more shots on goal, despite being 3-0 down! It was a cold and damp evening, so well done to all the boys for keeping going to the end. A special mention to Flynn, scorer of all four of our goals!
